Don't you hate it when you go to see a movie, and the title has nothing to do with the actual movie. Well, that is kind of like this post. I named it "Strange days...". Nothing in this post has to do with strange things or days. I just used it to lure you in, now you have started to read the post and might as well not stop. Muhaha, my plan has worked!
The youth band practiced last night. The next time we play together will be in youth group on Sunday. I am pretty sure that they aren't ready, and some of them are quite scared. But, I have full confidence in them. To ease some of the pressure, we will be doing an acoustic worship set. That means no Microphones, and no sound system set up! Hopefully within the next month or two we will be ready for everything.
Sunday I was told that there was going to be a Youth Worship Concert on this Thursday at Parque la Unidad. So, last night after band practice, I hopped into a taxi and headed to the park. Yea, you are right. Yesterday was Tuesday. So, I spent a good 30 minutes riding around Cancun in a taxi. The cool thing was that we had a wonderful conversation. We talked about family, where we grew up, and places that we liked to visit. Then, he began to sing the "La Cucaracha" song. Little did I know, but this song is interesting. One of the lines talks about the cockroach being upset because he doesn't have any marijuana to smoke. After we laughed about that, he asked if I smoked the stuff. I said no, and explained why. Then we began to talk about Jesus, and the first miracle that he performed, turning water into wine. Then we talked about sin, and that anything in life, when unchecked or out of proper confines, can become a sin. He wasn't miraculously converted, but I really feel that there was a purpose in our meeting. All I can do is hope that Christ will continue the work that He had already begun.
One more random note, I did have a slice of apple pie today! There is a new place called "The Coffee Bean", they have amazing American style deserts! So, when you come visit, I will take you out for some coffee and pie!
